What Is a Sober Living House?

Achieving sobriety is the ultimate goal, but sometimes you need a helping hand, a trustful ear, and a compassionate, safe place to stay while you transition to a sober life free from alcohol and drugs. Fresh Start Behavioral Health, Inc. helps individuals looking for a transitional environment as they complete outpatient therapy programs or have just finished a substance abuse rehab program. This is a no-cost program aimed at providing you the help you need in recovering in safe, supportive conditions. Our sober living house is an alcohol- and drug-free residency that provides structured living conditions, a strong support network of counselors, and a community of people trying to accomplish the same goal. Our counseling professionals can help you safely navigate through any tough situations and challenges you may encounter that may trigger a temptation to use or drink. We ask that residents of our sober living house commit to abstaining from drug use or alcohol while participating in outpatient therapy programs and commit to learning new skills that will help them adjust to a new life in recovery and sobriety. Contact our compassionate counseling team in Dayton, Cincinnati, or West Carrollton, OH to find out if our sober living house is a good fit for your needs.

What Can I Expect From a Sober Living House?

Sober living houses are not licensed or funded by state or local governments so costs are typically paid by the residents themselves. Our resident counselors focus on your needs, providing a nurturing environment. We also provide whatever help is needed in transporting you to our facility. We teach life skills to help you develop new habits and routines so you can demonstrate what you have learned during drug or alcohol rehab and apply it to your daily life. Some facilities require a minimum number of days of sobriety to reside in a sober living house. We also require residents to do the following:

  • Participate in household activities, such as meetings and chores
  • Follow curfew
  • Respect other housemates
  • Agree to random drug and alcohol screenings

This program help me get my life back. I came in broken and they had my back the entire time. I am one of the first few clients to come to the program and I don't think I woulda made it this far without their full support.

What a program!! The staff are awesome. Anyone needing treatment for substance abuse or any mental health issues, should really check this place out. Every need is catered to. I was welcomed with open arms and never judged. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Thank you to all for everything you do!!
